Forest Row Pre-School is a place where every day is fun and different.  We offer a safe and nurturing setting where your child will be welcomed and inspired. We encourage children to discover and learn in a varied environment including our story den, garden and conservation area. Our Philosophy

At Forest Row Pre-School we believe that children are curious, competent and full of untapped potential. We know they are capable of complex thinking and being the masters of their own learning when given the opportunity.

We believe all children are individual and learn through different methods. That they need opportunities to learn with all the senses. Children naturally research the world around them – questioning, testing, predicting and experimenting, they are able to represent their own discoveries in unique formats.

We believe that all children should have a sense of belonging and ownership over their education setting. They should be respected, valued and heard. We aim to provide the opportunities for children to lead and a safe space to explore and test their abilities.

We work to instill cultural sensitivity, world awareness and a safe place to learn.  This is managed through play and experiences carefully thought out by the team to include different celebrations and special days.

Our Setting

We consider our environment an ‘educator’ too. We set up to provoke awe and wonder in our surroundings, providing invitations to play, tailored to the children in our care.

Materials are carefully considered to prompt learning and exploration. Real life items are used to show we value play and teach consequences. Colours are muted to allow children to add their own and keep from sensory overload. Children are encouraged to move and transport items to suit their own ideas of learning. Cosy nooks provide a safe space to watch or escape to think.

We aim to deliver a space that is a tranquil home from home environment, with exciting and engaging resources carefully placed throughout. We aim to use a mixture of man-made and natural environments and materials to provide this. We use a free-flow approach to in and out, using outdoor space as an additional classroom.

We believe in exploring and being active members of the community, making the most of community green spaces around us and introducing children to local businesses and experiences.
